DeAndre Brown
Executive Director, LifeLine to Success

Pastor DeAndre Brown is the founder and Executive Director of LifeLine to Success, a reentry program for ex-offenders that equips them with the necessary tools to reenter society. Pastor Brown founded LifeLine to Success because he found his own reentry to be very difficult and cluttered with obstacles. Instead of complaining about the problem, he and his wife, Vinessa, decided to begin an organization dedicated solely to streamlining the reentry process and advocating for justice.

DeAndre graduated high school (Rivercrest High School, Wilson, Ar.) at the top of his class and began his college career at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, with a full academic scholarship, majoring in Biology (Pre-Med). After considering the length of time it would take to become financially sound, he decided a life of crime would be easier. That decision cost him several years of his life. Enough time to think study and figure out what role he could play in society. After his time in prison (25 months-Shelby County Corrections, Shelby County Penal Farm and the US Correctional Facility-Forrest City Arkansas), he returned home a changed man.

DeAndre has been very active in reentry. He and his wife successfully spearheaded the first phase of the “Ban the Box” movement in Memphis. The City of Memphis no longer discriminates against ex-offenders. Their clients have also formed the Blight Patrol, to fight blight in Memphis. DeAndre is on the Board of Directors for the Frayser Exchange Club. The community of Frayser is extremely important to the Brown’s; they envision Frayser within a few years to be back to a thriving community all Memphians will want to move to. The parks overloaded with children, new businesses, community events and bonding. Is this impossible? In the eyes of the Brown’s, along with other community partners they know this will happen. But it can’t happen unless it’s done together.

DeAndre sits on the Frayser Neighborhood Council as a voted member and chairs the Crime Committee. DeAndre has created a SUCCESS Zone around two schools to allow peaceful passage for children and after school meals for 161 school children. Along with his wife they are steering committee members for the New Southern Strategy Coalition (NSSC). The NSSC supports ex-offenders with their rights and personal growth to become better citizens. The coalition involves 14 Southern States.

DeAndre and Vinessa have 8 children, Kaneetra (26), DeAndre, Jr.(22), Malcolm(20), Julius(14), Jarius(7), Micah(6) Jewel(4) and Joshua (3). He is the Pastor of LifeLine to a Dying World Ministries, a place that teaches the Word.
