LINDA STEELE

ArtsMemphis


As Chief Engagement and Outreach Officer at ArtsMemphis, Linda Steele spearheads a pilot grant making initiative focused on funding arts based, community-centered projects in two under resourced neighborhoods in Memphis, and leads all related grant making processes including guidelines, information sessions, panel reviews, contracts and reporting. She serves as resident thought leader and expert in the area of arts, capacity-building and social change.

Ms. Steele comes to ArtsMemphis following 15 years as an arts administrator and consultant. Her work includes experience with arts non-profit institutions in New York City, Cleveland and Chicago at such organizations as Playhouse Square Center, Urban Gateways: Center for Arts Education, and The Art Institute of Chicago. Steele’s work includes arts marketing and education, program and grant management, fundraising, and extensive work related to audience and donor development. Steele sits on the Advisory Council of the National Arts Marketing Project Conference and has presented to national audiences on the power of the arts to transform communities and neighborhoods.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Ms. Steele earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Amherst College and her Master’s degree in Education from Harvard University. She is a graduate of the Arts Leadership Institute at Teachers College of Columbia University.
