SOICHIRO MAEYAMA, Ph.D - Professor of Graduate School of Urban Management, Fukuyama City University (Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan); Visiting scholar at University of Washington <Urban Studies> 2006-7; Ph.D. from Tohoku University (sociology).

His research and social commit has been, focusing on Community organizing/ Planning (including Neighborhood Councils, CDC) and Workers' Cooperative movement.


And from academic as well as practitioner viewpoints, he has encouraged many cities, and neighborhoods by way of working together with neighborhood councils, doing advocacy such as Neighborhood Plans, Community Businesses.

And he also works as a board of trustee of Japan Association for Community Policy (JACP), and as a board of Japan Institute of Co-operative Research.
He is a heavy Bike lover. He always rides bikes in every NUSA conference.
