Japanese Community Governance as the most ‘Peaceful’ Society

Two panelists will provide an information on the community governance or urban system in Japan, specifically neighborhood involvement, security and safety, partnership among citizens, local and central government with different way from America. The workshop is also intended to share information on neighborhood’s challenges at the time of globalization. This workshop will find some case study about the traditional Japanese style Neighborhood (Chonaikai) and traditional local home guard Shoubo-Dan (fire brigade) in Tokyo, Fukuyama, and Nagano.
