The strategies in this workshop are applicable to neighborhoods across the country. This workshop will discuss five strategies for building and sustaining engagement in order to reduce crime in communities:

• Partnerships
• Strategic Planning
• Training
• Community outreach and public awareness
• Accountability

5. Community Engagement 101: Novel course describing successful community wide pilot study on community engagement. This workshop will present a summary of a pilot project on community engagement spring 2015 in Wichita Kansas. Description will include summary of the five classes taught when partnered with the city library. Consisting of

1. Overview of public and private agencies.
2. City organization
3. Forming non-governmental organizations
4. By-laws and planning good meetings
5. Leadership


In summary this presentation will share findings of pilot study.
