Leveraging Crowdfunding for Community Engagement

Ellen Roberds, Conference Speaker

The nationwide, nonprofit crowdfunding platform ioby (in our back yards) has supported local leaders in raising over $2 million to support neighborhood-enhancing projects across the country. Many of these dollars have been raised through unique partnerships between ioby and local municipalities and community-development organizations. Focusing on a case study of ioby’s partnership with Center for the New American Dream, this session aims to share innovative models for catalyzing grassroots change through crowdfunding. Participants will learn how to position crowdfunding initiatives within their programming to jumpstart community efforts and promote resident-led change.
